Wallace Wireless Announces WIC Pager for BlackBerry® Smartphones

Reliable pager replacement solution capable of replacing every pager in an organization

Toronto, ON – November 26, 2008 – Wallace Wireless today announced WIC Pager, which will provide pager-like services to BlackBerry smartphones.

“Healthcare and public safety organizations are looking to eliminate pagers and move their workers to a single device,” says Rob Moffat, President, Wallace Wireless. “By leveraging the BlackBerry solution, WIC Pager provides a superior paging experience that utilizes both cellular and WiFi networks, allows for one-click call back, and provides real-time status of all pager alerts.”

Many companies have already moved to alternative notification systems, but are not experiencing the level of reliability and delivery response times that they expect.  WIC Pager leverages the BlackBerry Enterprise Server®, which provides a secure and reliable communication path for WIC Pager.  WIC Pager also adds redundancy by failing-over to BlackBerry PIN-to-PIN messaging if necessary.

Features

  • One-click call back. If the pager alert includes a phone number, WIC Pager can initiate a call back with a single click.
  • Unique Pager Inbox. Users can separate out pager alerts on their smartphone from the clutter of their email and SMS messages.
  • Customizable alarm. User controls their notification profile. Sender can optionally over-ride these settings for high priority pager alerts.
  • Web-based console. Send pager alerts and view detailed status with a web-based interface.
  • Two-way paging. The sender can create canned responses that recipients can easily scroll through and answer.
  • On-call groups. Manage who’s on-call. Send to the on-call distribution list and know that only on-call staff will be notified.
  • Automated fail-over: Seamless fail-over to PIN-to-PIN messaging if required.
  • Integration: API to allow any back-end system to initiate an alert.
  • Logging and Reporting. All messages are logged for analysis and regulatory compliance.

WIC Pager will be launched in February of 2009.  If you would like to be notified when more information is available about WIC Pager, please sign up here.
